DUMBARTON boss Stevie Aitken is lamenting the international break because he reckons it came as his team was slowly finding better form.

The Sons are mired in a four-game losing streak that has seen them fall to second bottom in the Ladbrokes Championship.

But Aitken is convinced he saw signs of recovery in their last game...despite his team suffering a 1-0 defeat to Queen of the South.

And that is why he reckons tomorrow's clash with Raith Rovers will be vital in their attempt to start climbing the table.

He said: "Raith are going well in the division and are 11 points ahead of us, however there really isn't that much between the teams in the league once Rangers are out of the equation.

"We have shown that we can compete and whilst the league table is not pretty to look at from our point of view, we are confident that we can start to move away from the bottom.

"The break last week actually came at the wrong time for us as I felt we could have kicked on from the good performance at Palmerston.

"It really is fine lines at the moment and tomorrow against a good Raith team we are looking to push on."

Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson has warned Clyde to beware a Berwick Rangers bounce following John Coughlin's return for a second spell as manager.

The Shielfield side suffered a defeat at Annan Athletic last week despite an encouraging performance.

But Ferguson has urged Clyde to maintain the momentum that has brought back-to-back wins and moved them into joint second place in League Two.

He said: "Berwick will have got a lift from a new manager coming in and we've had reports that they were very unlucky to lose at Annan last week.

"It's not the easiest place to go and play, but I'm not going to make any excuses on that front. Every team has to go there.

"We've spoken again this week about consistency over a long period and part of that is about managing different situations and different playing conditions.

"We have to again produce what we have over the last few weeks. If we don't reach that level of performance then there will only be one outcome."

Clyde will be without Chris Mitchell, who is suspended after being sent off against Montrose last week. However, Sean Higgins, who has been struggling with a groin strain, could feature depending on a fitness test.
