Motherwell have signed Hearts midfielder Morgaro Gomis on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old Senegalese international will bolster Motherwell manager Mark McGhee's midfield options after he lost out on the permanent signing of Manchester united loanee Liam Grimshaw to Preston earlier in the month.

Gomis was first seen in Scotland at Cowdenbeath before joining Dundee United, where he played almost 200 games and won the Scottish Cup in 2010.

He moved to English Championship side Birmingham City in 2011, before returning to Tannadice two years later.

He was then reunited with former manager Craig Levein at Hearts, where he was a standout performer in last-season's Championship-winning side. With the arrival of Don Cowie at Tynecastle however, Gomis has been allowed to move to Fir Park until the end of the current campaign.
