Queen of the South have announced the departure of manager James Fowler.
The former Kilmarnock player took over in September 2014 when Jim McIntyre left for Ross County.
The Ladbrokes Championship club said in a statement this morning: "Following discussions last night, the club and manager James Fowler have agreed to part company.
"Assistant manager Gavin Skelton and Jim Thomson will take temporary charge of the side until the end of the season."
Chairman Billy Hewitson added: "It's always disappointing when a manager leaves, we thank James for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future."
Queens sit seventh in the Championship after five games without a victory, safe from the relegation play-offs.
Fowler led the Dumfries side to the promotion play-offs in his first season in charge and they pushed Rangers close in the quarter-final before going down 3-2 on aggregate.
The 35-year-old always faced a tough task to replicate that success given the number of departures from his playing squad last summer.
Kevin Holt, Mark Durnan, Ian McShane and Gavin Reilly all went to Premiership clubs while Dan Carmichael signed for Hibernian.
