Martin Canning would like to see loan striker Carlton Morris at Hamilton again next season.

The 20-year-old Englishman returns to Norwich after Accies' final Ladbrokes Premiership game against Partick Thistle at Firhill today where he will be looking to add to his eight goals this season.

Player-manager Canning has told Oumar Diaby, Kemy Agustien and Chris Mandiangu that they will be going and is hopeful of persuading Alex D'Acol, Jesus Garcia Tena, Louis Longridge, Lucas Tagliapietra and Danny Redmond to stay at the club.

The Hamilton boss would also like to have Morris available next season if it suits the player and the Canaries, who are managed by former Accies player-boss Alex Neil, who have been relegated to the English second tier.

Canning said: "Carlton Morris will be going back to Norwich and we will be speaking to them in due course to maybe try to bring him back.

"He has done great for us this season, he has developed from the young kid that came in to leave a young man and has developed on the pitch as well.

"And as far as I am aware Carlton has enjoyed it, it has been a good experience for him.

"I am pretty sure his first focus will be to go back down and try to make an impact at Norwich and that would be my wishes for him, that is the whole purpose of being here.

"But if that wasn't to be the case, then we would be looking to bring him back up if the opportunity was there."

Canning admits dishing out the bad news to players at the end of the season is not the best part of his remit but he insists it is for the greater good of Hamilton, who he hopes finish the season on a high.

He said: "It is never nice to do but it is part of the job. It is not a personal thing, it is about trying to do the best for the club.

"It is the last game and it would be nice to sign off with a good performance and get the result, so we will focus on trying to win the match.

"The biggest thing was to get through it and keep Hamilton in the league."
