MARK MILLAR knows what it is like to score the winning goal against Rangers in the League Cup – but the Queen of the South midfielder
insists he would gladly accept any kind of victory tonight.

Millar was a Falkirk player when he curled in a stunning stoppage-time free-kick to clinch a dramatic 3-2 win against Rangers five years ago.

The former Celtic youngster would love to recreate those raucous celebrations this evening but admits Queens, who surged to the top of the Championship at the weekend, would love any success at Ibrox in tonight’s, no matter how it is achieved.

He said: “That Falkirk game was brilliant but I would take an own goal in the 90th minute to win us the game this time.

“If I score or anybody else does, I’ll celebrate the same way if we can get the right result.

“Going top of the league at the weekend has given the boys loads of
belief going into this.”

Queens have suffered defeat only once in 12 competitive outings so far this season and maintained their unbeaten run in the league with Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Raith Rovers.

Stephen Dobbie’s double took his tally to nine in eight games since returning to Palmerston Park last month but, with Derek Lyle also pitching in with eight goals this term, Millar insists they are by no means a one-man team.

The 28-year-old added: “Del [Lyle] has been the top goal-scorer in the last two seasons I’ve been at the club but bringing in the quality that Stephen Dobbie has is massive.

“You see it in training, some of the goals the two of them score are incredible and it’s great to have the two of them scoring.”
