Dumbarton duo Mark Docherty and Stuart Carswell have returned to training with no hard feelings despite a bust-up between the pair at Dunfermline on Saturday.

Carswell had to leave the field after 27 minutes with blood streaming from his nose after an angry exchange with Docherty after Dunfermline went two goals ahead.

The incident was missed by referee Kevin Clancy and whilst the SFA may get involved and hand out retrospective bans, manager Stephen Aitken wants to draw the matter to an end.

Aitken said: “Both players returned to training on Tuesday and are fine with each other.

“There were no problems and they just want to move on from it.

“ No-one is happy about what happened but they have shaken hands, apologised and just want to get back to playing football after a lot of focus on them in the past few days.”

“Things have been blown out of proportion and to be honest I have seen a lot worse in my near 25 years in the game.

“I have seen issues with team-mates in dressing rooms, training pitches and on pitches so it is not something new.”

“We do not want anything like that to happen again, however it is at an end now as far as I am concerned.”

Aitken has not heard if the SFA will get involved despite peace breaking out as he said: “The referee never saw anything but the SFA might want to get involved but I have not heard if that is the case.”
