HAMILTON ACCIES midfielder Massimo Donati admitted recent performances haven’t been good enough after shipping 10 goals in the last two games. Martin Canning’s side followed up their 6-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Rangers by losing 4-0 to Hearts on Saturday and former Celtic man Donati hoped they could put those results behind them in a bid to save their season. Accies find themselves mired in the relegation play-off scrap - just one point ahead of bottom side Inverness Caley Thistle - and Donati hoped they could bounce back quickly, starting with this weekend’s visit to Ibrox.

He said: “We have lost 4-0 and when you do that there is not a lot you can say. We just have to try and forget and move on as best we can. We have now lost 10 goals in the last two games and that’s not good enough. Against Rangers we lost four goals from corners and then we have lost three goals from free-kicks. We have to think about our next game now.

“We had a few players out against Hearts who are important for us. Hopefully they will be back this week for us because Saturday is a very important game. We need all the players to work together if we want to stay in the Premiership. We know Rangers will be another tough game but every game starts at 0-0 and we have to take points. Now is not a good moment for us in terms of results but we have to come in to training on Monday, forget about this game and be positive about the next few games.

“There are still a lot of games to play and a lot of points still to play for. We have to start getting some points because we are not in a good position at the moment. We have to try and stay positive though.”

Accies had goalkeeper Gary Woods to thank for keeping them in contention during Hearts’ first-half bombardment but once the Tynecastle side went ahead through Arnaud Djoum there was only going to be one winner. Second-half strikes from Isma Goncalves, Jamie Walker and Malaury Martin put an additional sheen on the scoreline.

Donati added: “It is the same as last week against Rangers where the first half wasn’t too bad. We played quite good football but then they scored in the last minute of the first half and then they scored three free-kicks in the second.”
