HAMILTON ACCIES have announced that the appeal against a red card shown to Ioannis Skondras during last weekend's draw with Ross County has been successful.

The Greek defender was dismissed by referee Steven McLean on the brink of half-time after bringing down Staggies winger Ryan Dow as he broke into the Accies half on the counter attack.

Both managers, Martin Canning and Jim McIntyre, agreed in the wake of the 1-1 draw at the SuperSeal Stadium that it had been the wrong decision and the punishment has now been reduced to a yellow card.

"Ioannis Skondras red card from Saturday v Ross County has been reduced to a yellow after an SFA panel hearing this morning," Hamilton posted on Twitter on Thursday.

"Ioannis is now free to play at Dundee on Saturday. Ali Crawford is suspended for this one & Darian Mackinnon misses Killie at home.

"His red for serious foul play reduced to a yellow for reckless dangerous play."

The point earned against County lifted Accies to 10th place in the Ladbrokes Premiership table ahead of Lanarkshire rivals Motherwell

Next up for Canning's side is a crucial trip to face relegation rivals Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday.
