PAUL HARTLEY has been sacked as Dundee manager after a run of seven straight defeats saw the club slide into relegation trouble.

The Dens Park side lost 2-0 at home to Hamilton Accies on Saturday, a result that meant they dropped into the relegation play-off spot in the Ladbrokes Premiership

Hartley first joined the club in February 2014 and led them to the Championship title as well as a top six finish on their return to the top flight.

However, Dundee announced on Monday that the club's board felt a change was needed to help turn the tide in the remaining five games of the season.

“I want to thank Paul for his time with the club," said managing director John Nelms.

"Unfortunately, the business we are in, sometimes change is necessary to achieve the goals we have set. I think somebody in the near future is going to get a good hard working manager.”
