Inverness striker Billy Mckay has turned up the heat on Hamilton ahead of Saturday’s relegation D-Day by insisting that all of pressure is now on their shoulders.

The Highlanders cut the deficit on Accies to just one point at the foot of the table with a win over Dundee on Wednesday night, setting up a potentially dramatic last day of the season.

If Inverness can defeat Motherwell at home on Saturday, Accies must do the same as they welcome Dundee to the Superseal Stadium to avoid automatic relegation.

And with Richie Foran’s men carrying the momentum, Mckay reckons that Accies should now be sweating.

“We were delighted to get the win and take it into the last day,” Mckay said. “We’re positive going into Saturday.

“We’d have loved it to have been in our own hands, but we’ve given ourselves a fighting chance and who knows what can happen?

“All we can do is focus on ourselves, try to get the win, and hopefully Dundee can do us a favour.

“All the pressure is on Hamilton because it’s in their hands. If they win, they stay up and go into the play-offs. It’s as simple as that.

“What happens is up to them and hopefully that pressure can get to them a little bit. We have had this for a few weeks now and it is a different situation for Hamilton.

“Maybe in their minds, they thought that we weren’t really going to get back into it. But we have. We beat them a couple of weeks ago and that really pushed us on.

“Getting another win over Dundee has brought us even closer and hopefully that puts a lot of pressure in their heads.

“We had been written off and probably rightly so, because it hasn’t been good enough. But this club never gives up.

“Hopefully we can pull off another one on Saturday, go into the play-offs and fight on from there.

“If we can get out of this situation, it would be right up there with my best achievements with the club.

“Coming back to Inverness, my old club, I didn’t want to be in this situation at the end of the season.

“But we are where we are. We need to deal with it, win our last game and see what happens.

“If can get the result and go into the play-offs, it would be a great feeling.”
