GAVIN REILLY hopes he can put the most frustrating season of his career behind him as he looks forward to a fresh start with St Mirren.

The striker has agreed a one-year deal with the Buddies as boss Jack Ross bolsters his ranks for a Championship promotion push in the coming months.

Reilly’s impressive scoring form in the second tier won him a move to Hearts two years ago but he fell down the pecking order at Tynecastle and was shipped out to Dunfermline last term.

The 24-year-old managed just two goals during a stop-start stint at East End Park and now he is determined to get back on track in black and white.

Reilly said: “I’m glad everything is sorted now and I’m just looking forward to getting going. I knew straight away when Jack spoke to my agent and said they were interested that this would be a great place to come.

“I worked with him briefly at Hearts and with James Fowler at Queen of the South, so I knew this would be a good setting for me.

“I had my best period at Queen of the South with James and it was a good season, so that was a big draw for me.

“Last season was really disappointing in terms of game-time. I got injured and it was a frustrating season, the most frustrating of my career.

“So, the main thing is I’m looking at it as a fresh start and just looking to get playing regularly again, and scoring and contributing as much as I can.”
