BILLY O’BRIEN is gutted he won’t be returning to St Mirren next season following his loan stint in Paisley this term.
But the keeper hasn’t ruled out making a move back across the border and playing in Scottish football once again.
O’Brien helped the Buddies retain their Championship status after joining on loan from Manchester City and is now out of contract at the Etihad.
Saints boss Jack Ross has added Ross Stewart and Craig Samson to his squad this summer and O’Brien said: “I’m gutted I won’t be staying around at St Mirren, but that’s football.
“The club will always be in my heart and I’d like to thank the fans for the best five months of my life.
“We’ll have to wait and see what happens next, but I really enjoyed my time in Scottish football and would definitely be open to coming back up next season.”
