ANDY ROSE insists it was an easy decision to join Motherwell after becoming Stephen Robinson’s fifth summer signing.

The midfielder put pen to paper yesterday on a one-year deal, a move that was exclusively revealed by SportTimes.

This is the first time the far-travelled Rose will have made it to Scotland. The Australian has arrived at Fir Park from Coventry but previously spent a successful spell in the MLS with cracks the Seattle Sounders.

Despite all that moving about though, he is sure that Motherwell is the right home for him after meeting his new manager.

“As a player to play at 100 per cent and fully confident you need to be valued,” said the 27-year-old.

“It’s so important to find the right situation and the right manager and at this point in my career, him and the club ticked all the boxes. It felt like a quick easy move. We came over 18 months ago from the States, that was quite a switch from Seattle to Coventry. This one was easy.

“But like I said, as soon as I met the manager, saw what he was all about, saw his vision, it was an easy decision.”

It is just under two weeks until Motherwell return for pre-season, and Rose admits he is keen to get going ahead of being reunited with former Coventry team mate Gael Bigirimana, who signed up earlier this month.

He said: “I can’t wait to get going now, it’s been going on for a few weeks but I’m delighted to get it over the line and I’m looking forward to working with Stephen Robinson.

“The vision he set out was very exciting, with a great group of guys and a good family club, but with great ambition.

“When you have a manager with enthusiasm, passion and energy, he’s easy to get behind. It turned out to be a pretty easy decision.

“I’ve got big ambitions. I want to fulfil the expectations that the manager has brought me here for. I’m a team player and want to give my all.

“I’m really excited about this move up to Scotland. There’s so many exciting fixtures and I can’t wait to play in some great venues. Most importantly I can’t wait to play here in front of our fans and give my all for the club.”

“It always helps when you have a familiar face. You want to get to know the guys as quickly as possible. Gael is a great guy, a great player so I’m excited to get to play with him again.”

Talking about his latest recruit, Well boss Stephen Robinson said: “I’m delighted that we’ve managed to secure the signature of Andy. He’s yet another fantastic coup for the club and one of my primary targets.

“Andy not only brings a physical presence to the middle of the park but he brings energy and drive. I’m very encouraged by the squad we’re building here this summer.

“We’ve also secured the signing of a left-sided defender who has Championship and League One experience and will do pre-season with us before we announce the signing.”
