CLYDE boss Jim Chapman is keen to retain the services of Scott Linton and Connor Quinn as he continues to shape his squad for the new campaign.

Chapman has added the likes of Blair Currie and Darren Miller to his ranks in recent days as he steps up his preparations for a crack at League Two.

Linton made 27 appearances for the Bully Wee last term, while keeper Quinn turned out five times during the second half of the season.

Chapman will see his side in action for the first time next month when they face Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill.

And the Broadwood boss is happy to be patient in the transfer market as he looks to add the finishing touches to his squad.

He said: "Scott's fitness was assessed at Hampden recently and that was positive. We have made him an offer, but it's a change for him, to fit with the management of the club's needs, finance and risk.

“At the moment it’s with Scott to make a decision on that and consider any other options he might have.

"He's been fantastic with me during our discussions and we of course respect his own personal situation with regards to the offer. As a club, we have to consider our overall position, but the door is open to Scott.

"We have also made an offer to Connor and it’s now up to him to weigh up his options over the next few days.

"We have targets and we're talking to a lot of people, but the process will continue right up until the end of August. I’m not going to panic or rush. The recruitment has got to be right and every penny we commit has to be well spent.

"Application and attitude is the one thing we can’t coach and that's paramount to our strategy for the squad."
