JIM CHAPMAN has given up hope of retaining Scott Linton and Connor Quinn at Clyde this summer.

But the Broadwood boss is eager to clinch a deal for Phil Johnston as he continues to build his Bully Wee squad for a shot at promotion from League Two.

Linton and Quinn have turned down contract offers but Johnston is still mulling over an offer to remain with the club next season.

Chapman said: "We made offers to Scott and Connor as we confirmed last week, but they have exercised their right as free agents and as a club we have to move on.

“The door is still open to them, but we have to look elsewhere now and continue our planning.

"Phil has been taking part in our pre-season sessions and I've had discussions with him about various factors, including finance. At the moment, we are giving him some time to think about his own situation.”

Chapman added Kevin Nicoll and Max Wright to his ranks last week and Clyde are now in their second week of training ahead of the new campaign.

And the Bully Wee boss is keen to keep up his recruitment drive as he prepares for the friendly with League One side Albion Rovers this weekend.

Chapman said: "We have targets and we are working hard to try and make those moves possible.

“We've also invited a number of trialists into the training schedule and, as we move into our friendlies from this weekend, we'll be able to see how they fit in in a match environment."
