Hamilton manager Martin Canning is hoping to sign four players - with two defenders and two midfielders on his wish list.
Canning also confirmed midfielder Darian MacKinnon would be out for at least two months and possibly the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury last weekend.
He said: "We are quite far down the line with two. A third one I thought was done this morning and I've since found out the club he's at are being a lot more difficult to deal with getting him out his contract.
"So that one is now in the balance. We have another two I'm speaking to so hopefully we can get maybe four in over the next couple of days."
