ALEX NEIL reckons Hamilton have silenced the critics and proved the doubters wrong after picking up another hard-fought top flight triumph on Saturday.

Martin Canning netted the only goal of the game as Accies clinched all three points against Ross County to strengthen their grip on a top-six berth.

Cup defeats to Aberdeen and Partick Thistle and a league loss against Dundee lead to some believing the bubble had burst at New Douglas Park following a stunning start to the season.

But after seeing off St Mirren and Dundee at home, Neil's side showed they are more than back on track with another victory in the Highlands.

He said: "A week or so ago people were saying we were on a bad run and not doing so well but that is us won three out of four games.

"It is really pleasing, especially away from home as well because that is where most of our troubles have come recently.

"We have been to some hard places - Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee - which is difficult. But that is us won three in four.

"I didn't think the game was particularly great football if I am being honest. It was more about rolling your sleeves up. The fact we got the first goal was crucial and we managed to dig in.

"I think, over the piece and with the chances we created, we deserved to pick up the three points."

Hamilton have won rave reviews for their style and attacking talent this season as they have taken the Premiership by storm and written their name in the history books.

It was a far different performance that was required in Dingwall as they battled their way to victory against Jim McIntyre's struggling Staggies.

And boss Neil was pleased with the spirit of his side as Canning's sixth minute header proved decisive.

He said: "I think it is probably the one thing that has been called into question for us this year.

"Everybody knows how well we can play when we are at it and it is a good game of football.

"But people questioned whether we could roll our sleeves up, dig in and do the dirty work and I felt we did that.

"Particularly out flair players, like Ali Crawford and Tony Andreu, I thought they really got stuck in and that is fantastic. To work as hard as we work, we are getting our rewards."
