Hamilton ACCIES moved into the third round of the Scottish Communities League Cup with a comfortable 4-1 win over Alloa at New Douglas Park.

A stunning volley from Tony Andreu gave Accies the lead after 16 minutes.

Greig Spence hit back for Alloa just before half-time, curling a shot high into the net after great play by Graeme Holmes.

Hamilton captain Martin Canning headed his side back in front in after 65 minutes.

Alloa had a couple of chances only for their final ball to let them down, and they were made to pay with 10 minutes to go as Accies moved further ahead.

Jason Scotland ran into the right-hand channel and clipped the ball across goal where Louis Longridge arrived late to bullet a header past John Gibson.

A long ball from the back over the tiring Alloa defence then allowed the fresh legs of substitute Eamonn Brophy to run in behind and finish coolly to seal Hamilton's victory.

Hibernian staged a late rally to beat Dumbarton 3-2 at Easter Road. The Sons went ahead in the 52nd minute when Mitchell Megginson's acrobatic shot ended up in the net. Mark Gilhaney doubled the visitors' lead when scrambling the ball home from a set-piece.

However, Farid El Alagui pulled one back for Hibs with a header in the 78th minute then bagged an equaliser six minutes later.

Sub Sam Stanton completed the fightback with a thunderous shot in the last minute.
