ALAN STUBBS is adamant the weekend's Scottish Championship results will have no bearing on his approach for the final day despiteHibs moving above Rangers into second spot.

While Rangers were scrambling a late 2-2 draw at home to Falkirk, Hibs saw off Alloa 4-1 at Easter Road to move into pole position for a play-off semi-final spot.

First-half goals from Martin Boyle and Liam Craig and second-half strikes from Jason Cummings and Dominique Malonga put Hibs into a commanding position.

They go into next Saturday lunchtime one point and five goals better off than Rangers, but a draw at Falkirk will be no use if Stuart McCall's men were to win at Tynecastle.

Stubbs said: "An awful lot hasn't changed from my point of view because my mindset was go to Falkirk and get a result anyway, and then we see what has happened at Tynecastle.

"Our aim hasn't changed - we are going there to win.

"We know now if we win the score at Tynecastle is irrelevant. So we know exactly what we have to do next week and the players will be ready for it."

Queen of the South booked their play-off spot with the help of a 2-1 victory over Dumbarton, while Livingston got off the bottom with a 4-0 win at Raith Rovers to make it a real three-way fight for the relegation spot and play-off place with Alloa and Cowdenbeath.

And Hearts secured a record tally in the division - beating Hibernian's mark - by posting a 2-1 victory at Cowdenbeath to move on to 90 points.

Hearts fell behind to an early Colin Marshall goal but Brad McKay netted a stoppage-time winner after Callum Paterson had equalised.

Head coach Robbie Neilson said: "We're delighted to get the points record for the league. Hibs obviously had a good season when they were relegated back in 1998, but we've matched them and surpassed them in a really difficult league.

"It was the main target we set the players after we won the league, so we can go into the Rangers game with confidence and look forward to receiving our trophy."
