ALBION ROVERS manager Darren Young has admitted Sandy Clark will leave a significant void to fill at the Coatbridge club next season.

Clark has acted as Young's assistant this season as Rovers won promotion to League One but a move from Dunfermline has enticed Clark to East End Park for the new campaign.

"It is a big loss for us as a team and for me as an individual," said Young. "I have learned so much from Sandy this season.

"The reason I wanted to bring him in as my assistant was that I knew I could tap into the amount of experience he has in the coaching and managerial side of the game.

"He was brilliant for me and I feel like he taught me an awful lot. But I can fully understand why he didn't want to turn down a move to Dunfermline.

"They can offer him full-time football which we are not currently in a position to do and that would be a big draw for anyone."

Young will now look to fill the position although he has insisted that he is in no rush to replace the departing Clark.

"I made the choice to bring in Sandy which was a good one and I'll be in charge of finding his replacement," he said.

"We have been inundated by candidates already. There is a lot of interest in the post although it is important to me that whoever comes in understands what we are trying to achieve here and the way we want to set the team out.

"Sandy was great because him and I really got along well together and had the same ideas about football.

"So we'll definitely have another body in for next season but it isn't something that we have to do quickly. We'll take our time and have a good look at who is out there and see where we go from here.

"Sandy is a big act to follow simply because of the years he has spent in senior football. We will miss him but he has left with the best wishes of everyone at the club."
