ST MIRREN manager Tommy Craig admits he shares the supporters' frustration over their lack of cutting edge after a 1-0 defeat by Inverness left them without a home point this season.

Craig felt his side looked the likelier team to score, but they were undone by a 42nd-minute Greg Tansey penalty.

And his side could not add to their solitary Premiership goal at St Mirren Park this season, even when playing against 10 men for the final 40 minutes, after visiting forward Ryan Christie was sent off following a second yellow card.

John McGinn forced a good save from Dean Brill, but the hosts otherwise struggled to threaten, to leave Craig facing familiar problems as his side labour without last season's top scorer, Steven Thompson, who is out after groin surgery.

And the St Mirren boss had words of empathy with the supporters. He said: "They are frustrated because they see us having so much possession of the ball and not putting the finishing touches to it. I feel the same way."

Craig added: "We probably had the best chance just before half-time when Callum Ball lobbed the ball over the bar from close range.

"From that they go up the park and are awarded a penalty and go 1-0 up."

Craig admitted he was confused by the penalty decision, presumably for a shove on Gary Warren by Marc McAusland.

"I don't know what the explanation is," he said.

Inverness boss John Hughes said of Christie's dismissal: "If that was a red card then I'm the next man on the moon."
