IAN MURRAY admits shackling Rangers' reunited strikeforce of Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller will be key to Dumbarton's chances of causing a Light Blues shock today.

Ally McCoist's side make the trip to the Bet Butler Stadium a week after Boyd and Miller got back on the goal trail as they netted in the 6-1 win over Raith.

It has been a frustrating start to the campaign for the Ibrox forwards and they will be keen to add to their tally this afternoon.

And former Gers defender Murray is eager to nullify the attacking threat.

He said: "I am sure the two of them will play after being rested on Tuesday night.

"They are two experienced international players who can cause you problems and we will have to be at our best to keep those two under cover.

"But Rangers have a number of players that can score goals.

"We know it will be really difficult for us but we know that if we get a bit of luck we can take something from the game.

"The longer the game goes 0-0, or even 1-0 against you, then you still have a chance.

"The second goal tends to be the killer and when you are two goals behind the likes of Hearts, Hibs or Rangers then it is very difficult for you to come back.

"We have to stay in the game as long as we can and give ourselves a shot of going for it."

DUMBARTON head into the Rangers clash on the back of mixed results against the other two heavyweights in the Championship in recent weeks.

A battling point against Hibs was followed by a heavy defeat at Tynecastle last time out.

Murray has seen his side stifle the Jambos already on home soil this term, with the Sons the only team to take a point from the league leaders so far.

And the Rock boss reckons attack could be the best form of defence as he looks to repeat the trick against the Gers.

Murray said: "We played 4-4-2 against Hibs at Easter Road and drew 0-0 and played it against Hearts and lost 5-1.

"We got accused at Hibs, and last week, of defending but that wasn't our gameplan, that is just how the game pans out and you have to adapt to that.

"We will have a lot of attacking players on the pitch.

"We had Gilhaney, Fleming, Megginson, Nish, Agnew and Kirkpatrick against Hearts, so that was an attacking side.

"At home, we are looking to approach it the same as any game and I believe that having two up is the best way for us."
