KENNY BLACK says he will wait until after this weekend's Premiership match against Inverness before deciding if he wants to be considered for the vacant Motherwell manager's post.

The caretaker boss led the Steelmen to a 1-0 win over Dundee United two weeks ago in their first game after the resignation of Stuart McCall.

This week the Fir Park club announced they will not appoint a manager until after new owners have been installed.

The Well Society and a London-based consortium are both interested in taking control.

Well have received 55 applications for the job so far but Black will bide his time before deciding whether to throw his hat in the ring.

He revealed that he'd spoken to club director Derek Weir and general manager Alan Burrows and added: "They told me I should put myself forward if I'm interested in the job.

"But I'm going to wait and see how things pan out at the next game.

"I want to see where the club is heading. We don't know what is going to happen. That's what makes it difficult for me at the moment.

"All I can do is do my best between now and the time when the club makes it decision.

"They've kept us up to pace with what is going on, though, and I'm more than happy to take the team in the meantime."

Black hopes to guide Motherwell to only their fourth win of the season on Saturday when they travel to Inverness.

Well are tenth in the table, two points above last place, while John Hughes's side sit joint top with Celtic.

Black said: "Yogi has had a full season to implement his thoughts on how he wants his team to play. So far they've had a fantastic start and have shown some really good consistency.

"They will be difficult opponents - they always are. It will be a test for us. But I'm sure it is one the players are looking forward to."
