BARRY FERGUSON was pleased his Clyde stars finally got the rewards for their hard work as they ended their miserable recent run with a 3-1 win over East Fife.

Goals from Brian McQueen, Euan Smith and Gerard Traynor earned the Bully Wee a much needed and long-awaited win at Broadwood.

Clyde are now up to seventh in the League Two table and just three points off a play-off spot and boss Ferguson has urged his side to hit the same heights on a more regular basis after an impressive win over the Fifers.

He said: "They deserve it. They have been working hard in training and trying not to let their heads go down.

"The bad run does affect you but we deserved to win. That is what they are capable of and now it is up to them to try and bring that every Saturday."

At the top of the table, Albion Rovers lost ground on league leaders Arbroath as they were held to a goalless draw by Montrose.

While Allan Moore's side saw off the challenge of Berwick, Rovers couldn't find a way to goal at Cliftonhill as they fired a blank.

And boss Darren Young was left frustrated by his shot-shy side as they fell six points off the title pace.

He said: "We simply never got started. The only positives to take away from the game is the clean sheet and the point.

"We didn't create a lot of chances and we found Montrose difficult to break down."

Rovers were not the only title hopeful to slip-up on Saturday, with Queen's Park also losing ground on the Red Lichties as they drew 0-0 with Annan.

The Spiders bowed out at the Excelsior Stadium in disappointing fashion and boss Gus MacPherson said: "It ended up being a frustrating afternoon. We just could not get the goal we deserved."
