KILMARNOCK have completed the signing of midfielder Paul Cairney on a two-year deal.

The former Partick Thistle and Queen's Park star was one of a number of players released by Hibs earlier this summer following the club's relegation to the Championship.

But the 26-year-old has clinched another deal in the top flight after putting pen-to-paper with Allan Johnston's side.

The Rugby Park club have also agreed terms with midfielder Sammy Clingan after he penned a fresh 12-month deal.

And boss Johnston has started running the rule over former Aberdeen and St Mirren player Josh Magennis.

Killie returned to pre-season training yesterday and the forward was put through his paces as Johnston looks to replace some of the 17 players he has lost this summer.

Magennis spent the second half of the season on loan in Paisley after falling down to pecking order at Pittodrie and has now been given a chance to win himself a deal with Killie ahead of the new top flight campaign.

Elsewhere in the Premiership, St Mirren have been linked with a move for Manchester City starlet Ellis Plummer.

The defender is poised to pen a new deal with the English giants and could make the move north of the border on loan to become the third arrival in Paisley following the captures of Mark Ridgers and James Marwood.

Meanwhile, midfielder Gary Harkins has followed ex-Saints team-mate Paul McGowan to Tayside to rejoin Dundee.

Gaffer Paul Hartley said: "It's another quality player for us. He knows the club after a good period here. I'm a long- time admirer of him and I'm looking forward to working with him."
