BARRY FERGUSON has lost the services of Clyde midfielder Andy Gibson after he called time on his playing career.

The 32-year-old has hung up his boots after struggling with injury.

Gibson turned out for Partick Thistle, Stirling Albion, Stranraer, Glasgow Perthshire and Beith Juniors during his career and made the move to Broadwood in August.

He played 12 times for the Bully Wee, but has now decided to retire from the game, leaving the club with Ferguson's side seventh in the League Two standings.

Boss Ferguson said: "Andy didn't think he could give the club all he can so fair play to him, he could have just seen out his contract.

"It's disappointing as he is an experienced player, but he is an honest man and we wish him all the best."

Off the field, Clyde have announced that John Taylor has returned to the Bully Wee board.

Taylor spent almost three decades with the club as a director and secretary before leaving to take up a position with Dundee United.

He has now returned to Cumbernauld and will stand for re-election at next week's annual meeting.

Taylor is pleased to be back in familiar surroundings again. He said: "I enjoyed my time at Dundee United, and gained invaluable experience.

"It's a great club, but I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to return to Clyde and I was happy to take on this new role when it was discussed with the board.

"Gordon Thomson has grown visibly in his new role as club secretary, acquiring a wealth of experience in such a short time in post and I will continue to be available to support him going forward."
