DANNY REDMOND is confident Hamilton can rise to the occasion when they face Lanarkshire rivals Motherwell.

Alex Neil's side extended their unbeaten Premiership run with a goalless draw against Killie on Saturday.

The visit of Well tomorrow sees attentions turn to the League Cup as Accies bid for local bragging rights.

The meeting with Stuart McCall's side will be Redmond's first experience of the Lanarkshire derby as the teams get set to meet twice in the space of three days this week.

The midfielder is the son of former Manchester City defender Steve Redmond, who had eight years at Maine Road.

Now the Reds-daft Scouse star can't wait to get down to business at New Douglas Park.

He said: "We have got six games unbeaten now and hopefully we can carry that on to Wednesday against Motherwell.

"It is a derby game and they will come out all guns firing so we will be prepared for that.

"We have got to concentrate on ourselves and if we can continue playing the way we have been then I we can get the win.

"Any derby is a game you want to be involved in and our lads will be right up for it.

"I haven't been to any Liverpool v Everton games recently unfortunately but hopefully I will get to one soon.

"I can't remember my first derby game.

"It was probably one of my dad's games when he was at Man City.

"They are always feisty occasions and great for the fans so hopefully we can give our fans a win on Wednesday night."
