DARIAN MacKinnon hopes he will be pulling on a Hamilton shirt in the Championship for the last time this weekend.

The Accies star will be part of Alex Neil's side for tomorrow's crunch clash with Alloa at New Douglas Park, but will then miss out on the final 180 minutes of the title race due to suspension.

A hefty collection of yellow cards will cost him his place in the team for the matches with Dumbarton and Morton as the Lanarkshire club target a Premiership place.

And the midfielder is counting the cost of a lengthy charge sheet as he gets set to watch his team-mates go for title glory.

MacKinnon said: "It is my last game before my suspension kicks in, so hopefully I can put in a good performance on a personal level and help the team get the three points. I miss the last two games, unfortunately, it couldn't have come at a worse time for me.

"But it is not about individuals, it is about the team winning the league and there are boys there who can come in and do a job.

"Someone will come in and, hopefully, my next game is next season after we have won the league.

"I am not great at watching at the best of times, so it will be difficult in the last couple of weeks. But I will be there cheering the boys on.

"It is my own fault, most of the bookings have been for shouting at refs, so I have got nobody to blame but myself."

Hamilton head into their meeting with Barry Smith's side two points adrift of Dundee at the top of the table following last weekend's 1-1 draw with Livingston.

Jason Scotland rescued a point for Accies after Stephen Hendrie saw red, and MacKinnon is confident there will be a positive reaction come kick-off tomorrow.

He said: "It was a disappointing result for us at Livi, but we have got three games to go and we are looking to win them all.

"We didn't play well and went down to 10 men at Livi, but we managed to get a goal back and it could prove to be a valuable point for us.

"We can't be too frustrated and lose focus on the three games coming up. There will be a good reaction from the boys. We were terrible last weekend, so all the boys want to put it right."

Even if a terrific campaign does end on a low note for Accies and they and miss out on the Championship crown, their promotion dreams will still be alive as they gear up for the drama of the play-offs.

Star man Tony Andreu was this week named as one of the four players in the running for the PFA Player of the Year award for the second tier, and MacKinnon has hailed his midfield compatriot for a superb season.

He said: "Tony has been great. He is the best player I have played with and he does things in training I can only dream of. If the award goes to the best player in the league, Tony will win it. There is no doubt he is the best player in the Championship.

"He is amazing, he could step into a Premiership side and play no problem. We are lucky we have managed to tie him down for a couple of years.

"People will be looking at him because of the quality of player he is, but he is under contract and the club will get money for him. I can't believe we got him for nothing and he has proven to be a great signing."
