JIM DUFFY reckons his decision to start striker Declan McManus paid dividends for Morton after they moved top of the table with victory over Airdrieonians.
The on-loan Aberdeen striker was given special dispensation to play for the Ton on Saturday by Scotland Under-21 boss Ricky Sbragia.
After helping Duffy's side to a crucial 1-0 win - thanks to Jamie McCluskey's first-half strike - McManus has joined up with the national squad for their friendly with Switzerland tonight.
Youngster Jon Scullion missed out on a starting berth but Duffy said: "Jon's done well in the last couple of matches.
"He's played two first-team games, against the league leaders and the cup tie here, but it was a different type of game [on Saturday].
"I just felt as if Declan coming back would give us a wee bit more spark and get us in behind at times. And I think that was justified."
