JIM DUFFY has a Plan B in mind in case keeper Derek Gaston isn't fit enough to face Spartans on Saturday.

The Ton keeper was forced off with a thigh injury early in the second half of last weekend's League One clash with Stenhousemuir.

With Nico Caraux also on the sidelines, it meant 17-year-old Jamie McGowan had to fill in between the sticks as Duffy's side claimed a 3-1 triumph.

Gaston is a major doubt ahead of the Scottish Cup clash at Ainslie Park and Duffy will have to decide whether to pitch kid McGowan back into the first team fold or look to do a deal to bring another shot-stopper in to the club.

Jon Scullion and Reece Hands are also still not fit to return but it is in goal where Duffy has a big call to make.

He said: "Derek is still touch and go and he hasn't trained so if he does play it will be a bit of a risk.

"Nico is still injured so we might play Jamie or we have an option to bring someone in.

"I have been speaking to one or two people and we have some options so we will decide that over the next 24 hours.

"I don't have guys waiting by the phone.

"You only have limited options in a situation like this.

"There is a lot to consider but we are looking at our possibilities in case Gats isn't fit."

Spartans saw off Duffy's former club Clyde to book their place in the fourth round draw.

And the Cappielow chief is not taking the Lowland League outfit lightly as he bids to clinch a last-16 place.

He said: "Every match is difficult but we are up against a side who have got a really good level of consistency, they have lost very few games in the last couple of years.

"They have that belief that they can win games but, from our point of view, we have got to approach the match with a determination to try and get into the next round."
