JIM DUFFY knows only too well Morton's Scottish Cup draw with Airdrie was an ugly affair.

But the Ton boss would happily take another dreich spectacle if it meant his team progressed into the fourth round this evening to face Spartans.

The first tie at Cappielow on November 1 gained worldwide attention for all the wrong reasons after a scathing report in Evening Times' sister paper The Herald, which criticised the standard of play from both teams, went viral online.

But Duffy told SportTimes ahead of tonight's replay at the Excelsior Stadium: "In any cup tie you just want to get through.

"There are a lot of teams who play well and don't win the game. From our point of view, it's all about being good enough to progress.

"Airdrie probably shaded the last match and we finished with 10 men so we were hanging on a bit.

"But we now have a second bite of the cherry which will hopefully give us another chance to perform a bit better and make it through to the next round."

Both teams go into the third-round match on the back of wins with Ton defeating Forfar 2-0 and Gary Bolan's men seeing off Stenhousemuir by the same scoreline on Saturday.

Joe McKee is still suspended from his red card in the first tie while Declan McManus is unavailable.
