JIM DUFFY was pleased Morton showed both sides to their game as they went top of the League One table with victory over Airdrieonians on Saturday.

Just days after seeing off the Diamonds to book their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, the Ton returned to Lanarkshire and claimed a vital, hard-fought third-tier triumph.

Jamie McCluskey got the only goal of the game as he converted Declan McManus' cross just before the break to ensure Morton took advantage of Forfar's draw with Brechin to take up pole position in the title race.

The Ton have now stretched their unbeaten run to five games- a sequence that has delighted Greenock gaffer Duffy.

He said: "We are trying to play, but we were denied space and it is not easy to play football.

"We also have to roll our sleeves up and do the hard graft.

"Going top is nice for the fans but there is a long way to go.

"This is not the time to raise people's expectations but we obviously want to be in the mix come the end of the season.

"That is the target and what we're aiming for."
