DYLAN EASTON has revealed how a chat with St Johnstone team-mate Chris Kane convinced him to sign for Dumbarton this month.

The midfielder made his Sons bow in the 5-1 Championship defeat to Livingston at the weekend as Ian Murray's side crashed to a heavy home defeat.

Easton will spend the rest of the campaign at the Rock as he looks to help Dumbarton climb the second-tier standings.

He has followed in Kane's footsteps by making the move from Perth and dropping down a division in search of regular first-team football.

And the 20-year-old is confident the switch will pay off as he bids to make as big an impact as his Perth peer.

Easton said: "To get the chance to play in Championship this season with so many good teams in the league is a great opportunity.

"I'm delighted that the gaffer wanted me to sign, and after a chat with my mate Chris Kane. who loved his time at Dumbarton, I agreed to come on loan.

"I'm sure I'll learn a lot at the club and to play in high-profile games can only help me with my future career.

"There are a lot of games still to play in the campaign, so if I'm selected, I will have the time to impress.

"The boys have been great since I signed and I'm looking forward to doing well for the Sons."

Meanwhile, Dumbarton have confirmed that striker Colin Nish has quit the club after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
