BARRY FERGUSON hopes Clyde's hard work will soon pay off sooner rather than later as he looks to guide his side up the League Two standings.

The Bully Wee went down 2-0 to Queen's Park last weekend to leave them second bottom of the table as their inconsistent run continues this term.

It has been a mixed maiden campaign in the dugout for the former Scotland midfielder, but victory over Berwick tomorrow could take the Bully Wee to within touching distance of the fourth tier play-off spot.

And boss Ferguson is pleased with the application of his players, even if they are not getting the rewards for their endeavours at present.

He said: "It was a bad start and we didn't play that great for ten or 15 minutes after it. But what has happened in the past is that we have collapsed but we didn't do that.

"In the second half, we were the better team and had the chances. But I can't fault their effort or commitment to me. They are working their backsides off, but we are just not getting the wee breaks.

"There is no way I can go through them. I said to them 'if you can walk in the dressing room and you have given me 100%, that is all I can ask for'. They gave me that.

"But we have got to try and up the standard, like we did in the second half."
