GUS MACPHERSON hopes Queen's Park can bow out in Lanarkshire on a high by finding their form again and keeping up the pressure at the top of League Two.

The Spiders host East Stirlingshire at the Excelsior Stadium tomorrow in what will be their penultimate game at that venue before they return to Hampden.

The National Stadium is almost ready to be handed back to the club after the Commonwealth Games this summer and MacPherson is determined to finish the year with a flourish before a January homecoming.

He said: "It will be a tough game, we won the last time we played them, but it took until the last minute to get the winner.

"It is important that we try and keep that momentum going that we have built up, but we know it will be a difficult game.

"We are back at Hampden on January 3 so we have got two home games and two away games before we are back.

"We want to try and stay in touch with Arbroath and Albion Rovers who have both done really well this season.

"We have had to show a level of consistency to hang in there with them and that is what we will keep trying to do."

After getting back to winning ways with victory over Clyde last weekend, Queen's saw their two title rivals both drop points in midweek.

Arbroath could only draw at Elgin while Rovers went down 2-1 against Annan, but boss MacPherson said: "It is an added bonus. The most important thing was making sure that after we lost to Albion Rovers we got back on track against Clyde.

"There was a gap there and it is always pleasing when you can stay in touch with the leaders."
