IAN MURRAY was delighted his gamble paid off as Dumbarton left it late to claim a point at Falkirk on Saturday.

Chris Kane continued his superb scoring form since joining the Sons on loan from St Johnstone last month as he cancelled out Craig Sibbald's strike at the death.

Until then, it had been a rare off day for the Perth kid as fellow forward Garry Fleming lead the line well for Murray's men.

Kane made the most of his reprieve after Murray hooked Fleming as the visitors went in search of a goal and the decision paid dividends in the dying seconds.

Boss Murray said: "Garry Fleming was probably our best player, but I've taken him off. It's just trying to find the solution.

"I had to leave Chris on the park. It wasn't his finest 90 minutes, but he pops up with the goal - and that is what he brings to the team.

"Gaz is disappointed, but you are just trying to find a way back into the game.

"Kano has got four goals for us already and he is massive for us.

"It wasn't his best game but he's got us a great point."

Elsewhere, Morton kept up the pressure at the top of the League One standings as they saw off title rivals Dunfermline at Cappielow.

Declan McManus opened the scoring for the Ton on the half hour mark, but Jim Jefferies' side pulled themselves level from the spot when Ross Millen converted.

Conor Pepper won it just minutes later and Ton gaffer Jim Duffy was delighted with a sterling showing from his promotion challengers.

He said: "That was easily our best performance over 90 minutes this season."
