QUEEN'S PARK boss Gus MacPherson hailed his side's new winning mentality after they eased to a 2-0 home win over Berwick Rangers.

First-half goals from Bryan Wharton and Sean Burns clinched all three points to send the Spiders up to fifth in the League Two standings.

It is the first time they have enjoyed back-to-back wins under MacPherson and he said: "There is a different mindset with this group of players compared to when we came in.

"Some have come through the Juniors as winners and they are all improving as a group.

"They have a belief in themselves and have the qualities to do well at this level. They've gelled so quickly and I am pleased that they are now being rewarded."

At the top of the table, Albion Rovers lost 2-1 at home to East Stirling to fall five points behind leaders Arbroath.

Alan Reid opened the scoring for the hosts, but was sent off after Dave McKenna and William Vidler struck for Shire.

Rovers boss Darren Young said: "It is a kick up the backside and a reminder that we have to maintain the high standards we've set for ourselves this season."

Elsewhere, Barry Ferguson made his first appearance for Clyde but they stay bottom after a 1-1 draw with Annan.

The ex-Rangers and Scotland star played for 48 minutes at Broadwood before being forced off with a knee knock.

Peter Weatherson cancelled out Euan Smith's opener for Clyde.

Ferguson said: "It was good to get backon the pitch. I now understand better where we have been going wrong.

"It is another game we should have won."
