GUS MacPHERSON is confident Queen's Park are on the right track after an encouraging start to their League Two campaign.

After narrowly losing to Clyde on the opening day of the fourth-tier campaign, the Spiders got their first points on the board last weekend when Shaun Fraser's goal gave them a 1-0 win at Annan Athletic.

Next up for QP is a meeting with Arbroath tomorrow afternoon as the Spiders bid for back-to-back wins.

And the Hampden gaffer is pleased with the progress his side have made so far this season.

MacPherson said: "I am are very happy with how things have gone so far this term. It was a fantastic three points for us down at Annan and a thoroughly deserved three points.

"Now we are hoping to build on that but we know it will be a tough game against Arbroath.

"We will have to focus on our own jobs. The players have had to take a lot of information on board but they have been fantastic.

"It's been great to see the development in them, not just as individuals but as a group. Hopefully we can keep building on that."

While MacPherson has been satisfied with Queen's opening games, it has been an even better start to the season for new Gayfield gaffer Allan Moore.

The Red Lichties have seen off Berwick and Albion Rovers so far this term and were edged out 2-1 by Premiership outfit Hamilton Accies in the League Cup.

MacPherson said: "Arbroath have just come down from League One, they're undefeated and a good team, so it will be a test for us.

"But it is one we are looking forward to and a game that we can go into with confidence.

"Arbroath came from behind to win their game away at Berwick, which is always a tough place to go.

"At this level, a team with the attacking options that Arbroath have are going to be hard to beat if they are also keeping things tight at the back.

"But we created a few chances against Annan and we're looking to build on that now with another good result."
