ALEX NEIL has ordered his table-topping Accies troops not to focus on the Premiership standings but on their next opponents, Kilmarnock.

The Hamilton manager inists it is the time-worn cliche of taking one game at a time that is the secret of his side's success.

After watching his boys battle to a 2-2 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice, Neil said: "I always tell the players our next game is the biggest game of the season.

"And that is Kilmarnock at New Douglas Park this Saturday. That is the way we approach it.

"Genuinely, we don't set any goals or targets. Our only goal is to go out there and try to perform to our maximum and win every game we play."

After four league wins in a row Hamilton didn't manage a victory against United on Saturday but the away draw continued their remarkable start to the season.

After going behind to a Nadir Ciftci goal they equalised through Mikael Antoine-Curier, only for Darian MacKinnon to pick up a second yellow card for over-celebrating in front of the home dugout.

Tony Andreu then put the visitors in front before Ciftci was also sent off for a second yellow card, this time for a deliberate handball. But Jaroslaw Fojut equalised for United just before half-time.

Accies, the pre-season favourites for relegation, are now 13 points clear of bottom pair Ross County and St Mirren. And scorer Antoine-Curier admits he is delighted to be proving the doubters wrong in such spectacular fashion.

He said: "It's amazing where we are now after everyone wrote us off.

"Being top of the league is a nice feeling. It's great for morale and we're all really enjoying things.

"But it's still early days. We are concentrating on each game as it comes but we'll try to stay at the top for as long as we can."
