Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean is not worried about Celtic clinching the Scottish Premiership crown at Pittodrie - because he thinks the Dons will spoil their party.

The post-split fixtures announced this week see the Hoops travel to the Granite City on Sunday, May 10 - two games before the end of the campaign.

If both Derek McInnes' men and Ronny Deila's troops win their three games before then, the Parkhead will be able to celebrate their fourth successive title at the home of their nearest challengers with another victory.

But former St Mirren star McLean, whose side face Dundee United on Saturday, believes Celtic will have to put the champagne on ice.

He said: "[Celtic winning the title here] could happen, that's the way it has worked out. But if Celtic come to Pittodrie, we are fully expected to take three points.

"If that stops them winning the title, then that will make it even better.

"We have six games to go, starting with Saturday. The Celtic game is a few weeks down the line and we will look at it when it comes. Right now all we are doing is focusing on Saturday."

United ended Aberdeen's hopes of retaining their Scottish League Cup back in January when they defeated the Dons 2-1 in the Hampden semi-final.

Since then, however, United have been sent into a tailspin following the loss of influential playmakers Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven to Celtic.

Last week's 1-0 win over Hamilton was only United's second win in 12 matches since the duo made their Parkhead switches.

Now McLean wants his side to heap fresh misery on their New Firm rivals as they look to cement their status as the best team outside of Glasgow's East End.

He said: "Dundee United have not been having the best of times recently but they have a lot of quality in their squad. It will be a very tough game.

"We also have a lot of quality in our squad. The results we have had this season speaks volumes about how well the team have done this season and we will be looking to pick up another three points on Saturday.

"Second place would be a massive achievement for the club. It shows the consistency we have had all season. It would be nice to secure that as soon as possible.

"It has been demonstrated in the last few weeks how strong a squad we have and that everyone is having to perform well to keep their place in the side.

"After the couple of draws, a couple of poor results, the manager changed things to get a reaction out of the players and that is what you need.

"If you are not playing to your maximum you know there is someone else ready to take your place. You need that strength in depth in a squad to be successful."
