JIM DUFFY has warned his table-topping Morton squad they are now targets for every other team in League One to shoot at.

Saturday's 1-0 away win over Airdrieonians saw the Ton leapfrog Forfar Athletic to take up pole position in the third-tier standings.

But only 10 points separate the Greenock side and eighth-placed Stenhousemuir, who will travel to Cappielow on Saturday on the back of their 1-0 home victory over Dunfermline.

And Duffy insists that he won't get ahead of himself as his side look to continue their impressive run of form.

The Morton manager said: "While it is nice to be at the top rather than elsewhere, it means you are there to be shot down. It is an incentive for other teams as well.

"So far we have had a lot of contrasting performances but we have worked extremely hard and competed in all our games.

"Every team we are playing against knows they will have to work hard to achieve a result against us.

"It is good for the profile of the club for us to be top of the league. But it is not something you can think about.

"We have to try to get as many points on the board as possible. That would be the same if we were third or fourth.

"Then, towards the run-in, we'll see if that has been good enough to put us in a position to challenge or not.

"That is all you can do at this stage. It is only November and there is a long way to go."
