THE League One title race is poised for a helicopter finish as the SPFL make plans ahead of a thrilling finale this weekend.

Morton head into the concluding 90 minutes of action in pole position to lift the silverware after their 2-0 win over Stranraer on Saturday.

Jim Duffy's side are level on points with Forfar after the Loons won 3-1 at Dunfermline, with Dick Campbell's side just three goals worse off going into the final fixture of the season at home to relegation battlers Ayr United.

With Stranraer two points behind and still in with a chance of winning the title, the SPFL will have to come up with a plan to ensure the trophy and winner's medals can be presented to the champions at the final whistle this weekend.

The Hampden hierarchy is expected to confirm in the coming days how they will deal with the issue and how the silverware will be transported to either Cappielow, Station Park or Glebe Park, where Stranraer face Brechin.

It has been a season to remember in League One as all three teams have battled it out at the top of standings for several months and it could well come down to the final minutes of action before the winner and losers are confirmed.

Morton head into Saturday's action as favourites to clinch a Championship berth after Declan McManus netted twice at Stair Park on Saturday.

But boss Duffy is keen to keep a lid on the expectations ahead of a tricky clash with Peterhead on the final day.

He said: "We were delighted with the result, but I ushered the players in after the match. It was important to win the match, but there's another game to come.

"I wanted to try and make sure they understood that it was important to get three points, but that it doesn't decide anything."
