GUS MacPHERSON reckons Queen's Park's shock East Stirling defeat proves nothing can be taken for granted in the League Two title race.

The Spiders slipped from top spot in the standings as they went down 3-1 at Ochilview.

A Vinny Berry effort was to prove a consolation for QP as 17-year-old Kevin Nisbet netted twice on his debut following his loan move from Partick Thistle.

David McKenna was also on target for East Stirling, and Hampden boss MacPherson was frustrated at a missed opportunity.

He said: "I am very disappointed, but it probably epitomises the league. If you are not at your best you will get punished.

"We have nine games left and we have to improve on that performance.

"I think there will be a few more twists and turns because it is such a competitive league.

"You have to give East Stirling a lot of credit, and we never really caused them enough problems."

As Queen's fell to a surprise defeat, Albion Rovers took full advantage as they moved into pole position in the title race.

With Arbroath also slipping up as they were held at home to Elgin, Rovers claimed top spot as goals from Ross Dunlop and Mark McGuigan gave them a 2-0 win at Berwick.

Boss Darren Young said: "Who would have believed we could go four games without a win last month and then take over as league leaders?

"This is a division which is full of twists and turns, and now we know it is in our own hands to try and stay in front and get results in 10 difficult games which lie ahead."

Elsewhere, Scott Ferguson was the Clyde hero as he added to a Garry Wood own goal to clinch all three points in a 2-0 win at home to Montrose.

Bully Wee boss Barry Ferguson said: "Fergie went through a wee 10-minute period when he was back to his wee flicks, which I don't like.

"I gave him a grilling from the sidelines, and he put a custard pie in my face. He showed a bit of desire, and sprinted 70 yards to get on the end of the ball."
