St Mirren take on Queen of the South this weekend as they seek revenge for their League Cup exit to the Dumfries side earlier this season.

The heat was on Danny Lennon back in August when Queens put the then holders out of the tournament to compound a miserable start to the new campaign for the Paisley side.

Since then, however, St Mirren have turned things around and the last six weeks have enabled the Paisley manager to find a little bit of breathing space.

"Hard work is the reason for the turnaround," he said. "That's it. There's no secret.

"We have worked hard and thankfully it is coming together a wee bit for us. We have won six out of our last seven games but we want more."

Jim Goodwin is available for selection for tomorrow's game after missing out through suspension last week against Hibs.

The Saints captain is expected to be back at the heart of midfield and Lennon believes that it is not just his football abilities St Mirren miss when he is sitting in the stand.

"Jim was a big miss but he is back available this week," he said.

"He is a leader, a real leader of men and he has a lot of qualities in that department so it's good to have him available again.

The St Mirren boss added: "If you are going to have a season of note then at some point you need to be able to put a good run together."
