MARK McGUIGAN hopes Albion Rovers can cap a week to remember by clinching a hat-trick of wins tomorrow.

James Ward's side pulled off one of the great Scottish Cup shocks to dump Motherwell from the competition last weekend before seeing off East Stirlingshire in midweek to get their League Two campaign back on track.

They host Stirling Albion tomorrow aiming to move closer to the fourth-tier play-off zone. McGuigan has thrived since making the loan switch from Premiership side Partick Thistle earlier this season.

And the 25-year-old is determined to keep the momentum going as the Coatbridge club bid for three-in-a-row.

He said: "We got the headlines for the Motherwell result last Saturday but the boys said after the game that we had to use it to kick-start our season because we have been too inconsistent.

"We knew we couldn't sit back and rest on our laurels. We got a good win on Tuesday night in what was a tough game. The boys were tired and the legs were heavy towards the end but we dug it out.

"If we could make it three wins in the week with another victory tomorrow that would be perfect."

Rovers were one of the pre-season favourites for League Two title glory this term after their relegation from the Second Division last time out.

The Cliftonhill side find themselves in the bottom half of the standings, however, and eight points adrift of top-of-the table Clyde after the first 14 matches this term.

Just 10n points separate the Bully Wee and ninth-placed Berwick in Scotland's tightest division. And McGuigan knows Rovers must start hitting the heights on a more regular basis to get into promotion contention.

He said: ""We don't have another Scottish Cup tie until February so there are no excuses.

"We have three months to knuckle down, get some points on the board and look to get as high up the league as we can."
