MOTHERWELL might have ended their four-game run of defeats at Dingwall last weekend but manager Stuart McCall is still looking for major improvement as they head to Parkhead.

Spectacular strikes from Iain Vigurs and John Sutton earned Motherwell a 2-1 victory over bottom club Ross County but they face a much harder challenge against champions Celtic.

Ronny Deila's strengthened squad are showing signs of improvement, with a 2-1 win over Aberdeen last weekend followed by a 2-2 Europa League draw in Austria against Salzburg.

McCall said: "I certainly think they have got stronger and improved. I watched the European game and Salzburg are a good side.

"Craig Gordon was outstanding and he needed to be, but you look at the squad and (Leigh) Griffiths was not even on the bench. (Anthony) Stokes came on and (John) Guidetti can come in. It shows you how strong they are.

"They have players fighting for places. (Aleksandar) Tonev was a new face for us last week and (Mubarak) Wakaso comes from nowhere and scores a goal.

"The manager keeps talking about them getting fitter and stronger so they can press and they certainly seem to be doing that. I watched them last week against Aberdeen and as well as Aberdeen did in certain parts of the game, Celtic could have scored more than two.

"We need to up our levels of performance anyway. Even though we were delighted with the win last week, it still doesn't mask the fact we were nowhere near as good as we can be. So we need to improve."

Captain Keith Lasley believes Motherwell can build on their win at Dingwall and again push in the upper echelons of the Scottish Premiership.

"I don't think there's any doubt that injuries hampered us in key areas of the park," Lasley said.

"They would have probably hampered most teams in the league, but outwith that we have been poorer than we know we are capable of."
