MICHAEL McGOVERN hopes Hamilton can make the most of their purple patch of form while they are taking the top flight by storm.

Accies are a point clear in the Premiership and face Dundee on Saturday aiming to extend their nine-game unbeaten league run and remarkable shut-out record.

It has been a dream start to the campaign for Alex Neil's side, who are already 19 points clear of bottom of the table Ross County and have taken a huge step towards retaining their top-flight berth for next term.

McGovern said: "We just want to go and win as many games as we can, especially when we are on this good run.

"We want to pick up as many points as we can because we won't be on this run all season.

"There will be ups and downs and we will hit patches with injuries and suspensions and we will lose games, there is no doubt about that.

"But if we keep doing what we are doing then we will win more than we lose."

Hamilton's latest victory came last Friday night as they beat Aberdeen 3-0 at New Douglas Park, with McGovern extending his own superb run of form as he collected another clean sheet.

Accies haven't conceded a goal since the 2-2 draw with Dundee United on September 13 and the Lanarkshire shot-stopper has hailed boss Neil for masterminding the shut-out spree.

McGovern said: "People are starting to focus on the clean sheets but that all comes from the team and how hard we work, but also from the management team and how well they have us organised.

"When you have that defensively and you add it to the top players we have going forward then we are always going to have a good team."
