QUEEN'S Park boss Gus MacPherson today urged his players to reproduce their display in the League Cup meeting with Rangers in the League Two games they have coming up.

MacPherson was delighted his side managed to give the Ibrox club a scare in their rescheduled cup tie at the Excelsior Stadium last night - and is looking for more of the same in the weeks ahead.

He said: "I am proud of my players.

"If you look at where these boys have come from they have done well to be able to go out and compete with Rangers in a short space of time.

"They stuck to the game plan, were difficult to break down.

"They worked hard to keep their shape and their discipline. And they carried a threat and that is credit to them.

"But I would say that these are the easy games. We are back to the bread and butter. We have Albion Rovers this weekend and then Elgin the next week. They are the real games for us."

MacPherson added: "We lost a poor goal early on. It was a basic cross in and Kris Boyd did what Kris Boyd does. But to get back into the game gave us a huge boost and gave us energy.

"We lost another goal at the start of the second half. But they stuck to their task well and competed for long periods.

"For boys who have come here from amateur and junior level it was impressive."
