Morton manager Jim Duffy will make the journey to Forfar this afternoon with the aim of pressing home the Greenock side's title credentials.

With just one point between Forfar and Morton in second and third place respectively, it is a game that could allow either side to open up a small cushion, albeit that the Angus side still have a game in hand.

However, while Duffy has been quietly satisfied with consistency shown by Morton in recent weeks, he is wary of the experience that today's hosts can call on.

"Dick Campbell is the longest-serving manager in the league and you don't hang around this long without knowing a thing or two," said Duffy. "He is an experienced manager and he knows what it takes to get over the course of the season.

"The same can be said of the likes of Rab Douglas and Darren Dods, guys who have tremendous experience at the very top level and that is invaluable.

"They will fancy themselves as being able to mount a strong promotion challenge, but if we are to be serious about trying to stay up there then this is exactly the kind of game where we need to go and show what we've got."

And Duffy is looking to maintain the recent steady form Morton have shown.

The Greenock outfit have taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three games, but it isn't just the points in isolation that have pleased Duffy.

"Of course, you are always looking to get something from a game no matter what, but I have been particularly pleased with the kind of form we have shown.

"I think we have played well, we've looked strong as a team and I thought that we were well worth our win against a good Dunfermline side last weekend.

"We have steadied things after being a bit up and down and in this league you really need to be consistent because if you have a bad spell you can really slip out of things. It is tight and the teams round about us have been consistent, too, so we need to strive to keep that going."

The transfer window will close on Monday evening, but it remains to be seen whether or not Morton will add to their squad.

With the Michael Tidser deal falling through, Duffy may well try to add before the window shuts.

"You never say never because you don't know what might come up," said Duffy. "There is nothing imminent, but if something was to come up at the last minute that we could do, then we could well be interested.

"The thing with Michael was obviously disappointing, but it is one of these things. It was no-one's fault, but the person I feel most for in all of it is the lad himself. He's been left in limbo.

"But we'll see what happens between now and over the weekend. I wouldn't definitely say that's us, but there's certainly nothing up our sleeve right now."

Meanwhile, Albion Rovers have called an 11.30am inspection ahead of their League Two clash with Queen's Park this afternoon.
