MORTON will be trying to regain top spot in the SPFL League One today with a home win against Brechin City.

The Ton slipped off the summit of the table last week following a 2-0 defeat away to Stranraer.

It means the Cappielow club sit joint second with Dunfermline and the Stair Park club, two points off the pace of high-flying Forfar Athletic.

Morton are currently on a two-game losing run, and, having Sean Crichton and Conor Pepper dismissed in last week's defeat, will be keen to address their current slide.

Elsewhere in League One, Airdrieonians face the task of hosting title contenders Dunfermline at the Excelsior Stadium.

The Lanarkshire club have moved out of the relegation play-off place on goal difference after their 1-1 draw with Brechin last week.

They Diamonds' line-up may feature new signing Ross Docherty, who put pen to paper on a deal earlier this week.

The former Livingston youth midfielder played as a trialist last weekend, and is hoping to build on his 30 first-team appearances for the Lions - many of which came under current Airdrie boss Gary Bollan.

In League Two, Queen's Park and Albion Rovers will look to maintain their promotion push, while lowly Clyde attempt to scramble clear of the bottom.

The Spiders face a tricky trip north to Montrose on the back of last week's 3-0 triumph over East Stirlingshire at Airdrie as they sit second in the standings, just three points off Arbroath.

Just a point behind them a confident Rovers outfit will go into their match at Broadwood in high spirits following their 3-0 win over Elgin last time out on league duty.

Manager Darren Young also picked up the manager of the month award for his efforts with the Coatbridge club through November.

That accolade is something Clyde boss Barry Ferguson can only wish for at the moment given their recent run of form.

The Bully Wee have only won once in their last six games while failing to pick up a point in their four most recent outings.

And, with 15 points currently separating the sides in the table, the former Rangers man knows his team will need to be on top form to stop the rot this afternoon.
